Valley View Medical Center CEO Announces Support for AEPCO & MEC Mohave Energy Park Project

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – Valley View Medical Center CEO announced support for Arizona Electric Power Cooperative’s (AEPCO) and Mohave Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) Mohave Energy Park Project.

In a letter sent to the Mohave County Board of Supervisors and others, Chief Executive Officer Blake W. Hubbard expressed, “The project and its deliverables dovetail well with our hospital’s mission of making communities healthier, by providing another point of system redundancy that strengthens our ability to care for those we are so privileged to serve.”

To address a growing concern about grid reliability and keeping energy costs low for all members, MEC and its main generation and transmission provider, AEPCO, are planning for a quick start, flexible natural gas electric power generation units in Mohave Valley. AEPCO, like MEC, is a not-for-profit cooperative.

“…1 of Mohave Energy Park’s purposes is to provide electricity to critical community infrastructure, including Valley View…” Hubbard continued, “This distribution redundancy will greatly support our hospital and allow us to fully continue patient care operations by providing a reliable source of power during times of uncertainty.”

Tyler Carlson, MEC CEO adds, “Thank you Blake Hubbard for endorsing the project. Mohave Energy Park will support our distribution infrastructure, circumvent high market power prices, and avoid transmission outages. This will also help lower costs and generate more energy locally for our members.”
