Mohave Electric Cooperative, partnered with TWN Communications, will design a network consisting of fiber optic solutions. The goal is for ALL MEC members to have access to at least a 25x25 connection when the project is complete. Members will be able to influence where fiber optic internet is deployed using an online pre-registration format that will track interest and demand.
You can pre-register for service on our website. Once service becomes available in your area, we will notify you to complete the sign-up process. Pre-registration is not a commitment or contract but is important to the project construction by helping MEC and TWN identify the areas of member interest for broadband deployment.
The best way to receive updates is to pre-register. You will be able to track progress and find updates on the project’s website. TWN will begin construction of the network infrastructure soon and anticipates service will be available to members in phases and in different areas at different times. Availability in some member locations is expected later this year.
Yes, this service will be available to both homes and enhanced solutions for businesses.
This means that you will have access to an affordable reliable broadband service providing at least 25 Mbps of download speeds and all the way up to 1 Gbps or more.
Fiber optic is a type of broadband connection consisting of or using thin flexible fibers with a glass core through which light signals can be sent with very little loss of strength.
Fiber optic uses fiber optic cables to transmit an internet signal. Fixed wireless internet uses radio waves to transmit internet wirelessly between tower sites. Fixed wireless technology requires a line-of-sight to the signal to receive service, whereas fiber optic service will be hard-wired directly to your home or business.
Wi-Fi refers to a hotspot or an area that you can connect to the internet wirelessly. You can set up a Wi-Fi hotspot at a specific location, like a park or an event. Or you can use a Wi-Fi router in your home to connect to your internet wirelessly.
Reliability — over older, weaker copper-based technologies (DSL).
Sustainability — Not susceptible to most weather conditions (unlike satellite).
Speed — Fiber optic service generally offers faster speeds than other technologies.
We will offer download speeds starting at 25 Mbps, going all the way up to 1 Gbps or more.
Plans start at $49.95* per month.

A fiber connection will bring service to your home using a fiber-optic, cable-like cord, which will connect to a communications device installed inside of your home or business. For Wi-Fi, or wireless access within your home, a wireless router will be provided at the time of installation.
While there may be other competitors in the area, MEC will be working with TWN to provide this service to members.
TransWorld Network, Corp. or TWN Communications, has been a trusted partner of Mohave Electric Cooperative since 2010. TWN has been in the telecom industry for over 30 years with a mission to bring communication services to rural and underserved markets.
MEC has worked with TWN for many years to provide fixed wireless internet service to many parts of our service territory. TWN is now offering a fiber solution that will offer fiber-optic service to MEC’s members.
TWN has never utilized a “bait and switch” pricing tactic and will not do that in the future. The base price for services will remain the same, with negligible changes in tax or regulatory charges as they may occur.
The information collected is going to be used to determine what locations have the highest interest. It will not be shared outside of Mohave Electric Cooperative or TWN.
Fiber-based service is definitely the best, but not the only option for gaming. Fiber will provide a state of the art, fast connection with no interruption.
All plan options come with unlimited data and are symmetrical upload/download speeds.
The residential plans are:
- 25 Mbps = $49.95* per month
- 50 Mbps = $59.95* per month
- 100 Mbps = $79.95* per month
- 1 Gbps = $119.95* per month

In some cases, yes, if you have any underground utilities today, the new fiber connection will be underground as well. In addition, if you have underground utility rights-of-way crossing your property, TWN may also need to dig to bring fiber to other customers. We will make every attempt to ensure that these disturbances are minimal and as non-intrusive as possible.
TWN Communications will maintain the network, provide technical support, customer care, and invoicing.
No. You will be invoiced monthly by TWN Communications.
Yes. TWN will hire local technicians to maintain the network and install customers.
