MEC members saved over $2,300,000.00 with their Co-op Connections Cards!
Mohave Electric Cooperative launched Touchstone Energy’s Co-op Connections Program to our members in January 2011. Since that time, members have saved over two million dollars in prescription discounts.
Mohave’s Chief Executive Officer Tyler Carlson said, “This is a huge milestone of savings for our members, and MEC is proud to be able to provide a program that keeps money in our member’s pocket. We can’t always control the costs of wholesale power that we experience affecting electric bills, so we are happy to be a part of a program that helps members.”
The card is also good for discounts at over 130 local businesses as well as thousands of national businesses online with more being added all the time. Discounts are available on products and services including air conditioning service, restaurants, health and wellness facilities, automobile purchasing and servicing, banking, dog training, pet sitting and more. The Healthy Savings Benefits offer discounts on dental, vision, hearing, chiropractic, lab and Imaging services.
Co-op Connections Business Expo 2020
The Co-op Connections® Expo is back and ready to help Mohave Electric Cooperative members save on everyday needs.
The free expo took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 7 at the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce. The event provides members an opportunity to visit participating Co-op Connections businesses in one location to learn about various discounts available when members show their connections card or the app.
“Members don’t even need to carry the card anymore,” said Terry Puryear, public affairs coordinator at MEC. “An app is available on iOS and Android that places savings at a member’s fingertips.”
The app, which is free, provides an opportunity to search for local and national deals and showing the card in the app at a business is all a member needs to do to receive an associated discount.
The card’s Healthy Savings can save members up to 85 percent on prescriptions as well as discounts on dental, vision, chiropractic, hearing aids, and lab and imaging. In addition, the program teams up with coupons.com to offer hundreds of opportunities to save and the Cash Back Mall offers rewards for online purchases with major retailers.
The card is good for discounts at over 130 local businesses and expo attendees will have an opportunity to purchase items or services from vendors. There will also be drawings for prizes and three grand prize gift certificates to a Co-op Connections business of a member’s choice.
“I’m a member myself and I use the card every chance I get,” Puryear said. “A penny saved is a penny earned, and I’m earning a lot just by using it.”
Co-op Connections Business Expo
In celebration of Mohave members reaching the million dollar milestone, MEC hosted a “Co-op Connections Business Expo” in 2014 at the Bullhead Area Chamber auditorium. Dozens of participating Co-op Connections businesses gathered under one roof for people to browse and shop. The Expo was free to the public and a great opportunity to learn more about the benefits of the Co-op Connections Program. Over 300 people enjoyed the event with giveaways, hourly door prize drawings, and lots of fun. Three lucky grand prize winners received a $100 gift certificate to the Co-op Connections Business of their choice. It was so successful, Mohave hosted expos in 2015, 2016, and 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and will continue annually in the future.
The program teams up with Coupons.com to offer hundreds of valuable coupons and the Cash Back Mall offers cash back rewards for online purchases with major retailers. The more you use the card - the more you save. Simply show the card at participating businesses and receive the discount designated by that company.
The card is free to all Mohave members. It doesn’t expire and there are no charges or annual fees. Any member of the family can use the card. For more information, call (928) 763-1100.
Co-op Connections testimonials
Mohave member Cathy Fulwiler saved $400 at MattressLand & Furniture, “I was so excited I went back and I looked at additional businesses that honored it and I tend to honor those businesses as well,” she said.
Mohave member Steven Brown decided to stop by Donn Williams Jeweler rather than driving to Henderson to purchase a special birthday gift for his wife. After making his selection, he noticed the Co-op Connections sticker on the window. When he was in the process of paying for it, he asked the owner what the discount was with his card, “I was very pleased to find that by being a part of the Co-op Connections program, the store was giving me 20% off. It pays to shop local and to look for that sticker,” Brown said.
Mohave member Ann Eichhorn said about the program, “When I received the card I thought ‘another nothing’. Boy, how wrong I was! The savings I received on my prescription purchases were more than I ever imagined. I have lived here since 1990 and have first-hand seen the advantages of the co-op. My personal ‘thank you’!”
