Air Conditioning Rebate

Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) is relaunching its energy rebate program with a renewed focus on income-qualified members as approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). Heating and cooling the average home in Mohave County accounts for approximately 80% of residential energy costs. By installing high-efficiency air conditioners, members can help reduce their electricity bills and help MEC manage our peak loads and costs in the summer and winter.

Replacing a less efficient a/c system with a new, more efficient system or higher Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), will allow members to achieve kWh savings per ton on their units, which will be reflected on members’ electricity bills. This rebate does not apply to a/c window units.

For any rebate amount over $600, members will be required to submit a W-9 form with proof of their invoice or installation receipt. Photos of the installation are also required. Rebate applications must be submitted within 1 year of installation.

The MEC rebate amounts per SEER rating are as follows:

  • 15 SEER – $200 Rebate
  • 16 SEER – $750 Rebate
  • 17 SEER – $1,500 Rebate
  • 18+ SEER – $2,000 Rebate
The higher the SEER, the larger the savings bar chart graph. Increasing in size, 12 SEER, 13 SEER, 14 SEER, 15 SEER, 16 SEER.
With each increase in SEER comes an approximately 6% reduction in operational costs. For example, the operational cost of an air conditioner with a 15 SEER is approximately 25% higher than a 19 SEER Unit.
